Education in India
In this world education is very important to build the base of an individual’s character. With the help of education everyone get success in life and get something different. Education means a lot in everyone’s life. It completely changes our mind and makes us strong mentally, socially and intellectually. Education is given much importance.
However, education in India is often not given as much importance. Many children start doing jobs at lower ages and left school. This is also why the literacy rate in many states in India is very low. Many parents in the lower socio-economic classes also not give importance to education.
Another problem is that the girl education. India is the 2nd largest nation in the world but the rate of girl education in India is extremely low. Girl education in India still requires improvement in number of ways. Gender inequality prevails in many parts of India. There is also a gender battle that need to be fought.
The government of India has brought many schemes for this. The mid-day-meal is a scheme in which children receive a wholesome meal around noon. The education of the girl child till the 12th standard is also free under state board. The government has also brought many schemes and scholarships to encourage high scorers coming from families of limited means to continue with higher education. There is also a 21% reservation in private schools for those belonging to lower economic classes. In spite of this many children still are deprived of the opportunity to gain an education because they have to work on factory floors, or do other jobs even though there are strict laws against child labour. The government practice continues to ban the child labour.
The other problem is that the infrastructure provided only in private schools. In government school, there are no proper classrooms, efficient staff etc. today’s educations system in India is challenging but it needs some changes. The quality of educations must be improved rather than the quantity. Government encourage foreign universities to come to India to collaborate with the Indian Institutions.
And there is also lack of quality in teaching. Teachers should not be burdened with administrative works. In schools and colleges, most of attention is given to theory and books but practical knowledge is completely ignored. When these students pass the exam, they forget all the things they have studied due to the lack of practical experience. Practical knowledge and skill-based education is still far away from the reach of students studying in schools and colleges. This is also a major challenge faced by the government. Many government schemes are playing an important role in the Indian education system. Under the state boards, the quality needs to be improved by introducing more infrastructure and better teachings.
However, since independence India has made tremendous progress. The situation of education in India is improving and with the help of people education in India will improve in the coming years.
